Jan Revels, ASID AlliedChateau Concepts owner and principal interior designer, Jan Revels graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. She is an Allied Member of ASID.
As a child, Jan says that she always admired her mother’s style and her gift for making simple things look beautiful. Growing up, the latest issues of Architectural Digest and Metropolitan Home to Southern Living could be found on their living room coffee tables. “My mother’s ability to recreate the exquisite interiors in those magazines within a budget intrigued me,” says Jan. “Her love of antiques and fine art gave me the foundation for creating lasting designs with a personal touch.”
Additionally, Jan’s love of nature and travel serves as an ongoing inspiration to her interior design aesthetic. Photography is a hobby that keeps her eyes sharp for such critical design proficiencies as detail and composition.
Jan launched Chateau Concepts in 2001, five years after starting a new construction and remodel business in the Park Cities area of Dallas with custom homebuilder Tom Leachman, III. Jan and Tom designed and built a number of homes priced in the multi-million dollar range. Jan space planned each room, carefully selecting materials and creating the design for the millwork, walls, flooring and stone of each home.
Additionally, Jan has worked with architect/builder Ed Cummings on numerous houses from the space-planning phase, through construction, and on to final selection of furniture, custom window treatments, art and accessories. Her knowledge of construction and the joinery of materials is key to her success as an interior designer.
Chateau Concepts has served a unique range of discriminating clients, including high-profile clients across the business spectrum and services to the U.S. Marine Corps. Jan also created an interior design curriculum for The Hockaday School in Dallas, taught summer semesters there and speaks to students on Career Day.
Jan and the Chateau Concepts team of artisans are expert listeners, adept at providing professional guidance throughout the design process, and creating lasting relationships.
